When clients ask me about Brazilian lymphatic drainage, I have to disappoint them and tell them that such a thing does not exist!

There is Brazilian sculpting massage or lymphatic drainage. As much as I love everything about Brazilian beauty, Brazilian lymphatic drainage is just a marketing move, and here is why.

Lymphatic Drainage Massage

Lymphatic drainage massage, also known as manual lymphatic drainage,

( MLD) relieves swelling that happens when medical treatment or illness blocks your lymphatic system. Lymphatic drainage massage involves gently manipulating specific areas of your body to help lymph move to an area with working lymph vessels.

The massage therapist will follow a particular sequence, using a series of massage techniques, including stretching, compressing, gliding, and cupping motions.

Light rhythmic movements stimulate the lymphatic system without pressing hard on the vessel. They make the lymph fluid move easily through the nodes and tissues, making sure the fluid doesn’t get trapped anywhere.

Lymph drainage massage has become a popular form of massage due to its potential health benefits.

This type of massage aims to help the body maintain proper blood circulation, body fluid balance, and immune functions.

MLD is effective in the treatment of acne, cellulite, post-surgery, sinusitis, revitalization, etc., however, performing this technique directly on the body’s immune system, requires skill and technical and professional responsibility. If the therapist does not consider the numerous contraindications, they may endanger the health of the client.

Lymphatic drainage massage is developed in 1932, by  Dr. Emil Vodder (1896-1986), a Danish biologist and physiotherapist, and his wife Estrid Vodder, to this day these techniques have been evolving throe the work of many scientists.

Therefore we can’t give all the credit to Brazilians, but when it’s come to sculpting or modeling massage, Brazilian therapists’ perfect technique.

If you wish to add those techniques to your treatment list, please do not hesitate to get in touch, and we will teach you to become one of the best in the industry.
